Mulberry leaf is claimed to have several benefits for the human body and therefore, consuming it in the form of a tea can help with various diseases and conditions.
How to Prepare Mulberry Tea?
One of the simplest recipes for preparing mulberry tea is by brewing it. Here are the different options:
The Infusion Method
Take a saucepan to boil water. It is suggested that you use pure filtered water or spring water. Infuse some mulberry leaves to this boiled water (1 gm for every 250 ml). Let the leaves steep in for about 1 to 5 minutes. The duration will depend on how strong you want your tea to be and how much flavor you’d like to infuse.
How to brew the perfect pot?
You may feel that preparing tea is the easiest thing to do. However, that is not true. It requires patience and a lot of trial and error before the actual taste can be enjoyed. Given below is our recommendation on preparing the perfect white mulberry tea:
- Boil 4 cups of pure water
- Once the water is boiled, remove the saucepan from heat and let the water remain for about 1 minute.
- Add 5 teaspoons of White Mulberry leaves to the pot. (4 teaspoons for each cup of water with 1 extra for the pot)
- Let it steep for about 3 to 5 minutes.
- Your pot of White Mulberry Tea is ready!
You may change infusion times or do multiple infusions with the same leaves. This way each infusion will give you a different taste/aroma with its own benefits.
Tip: The flavor of Mulberry is delicate and may get hampered by chemical additives present in tap water. Therefore, it is best to use pure water or spring water.
Chilled White Mulberry Tea
If you are looking for a beverage to enjoy on a warm sunny day, mulberry tea is the option. Prepare a pot using the infusion method mentioned above and keep it in the fridge. Pour this into your cup with some ice and see how refreshed you feel once you have sipped it in. You could also add some mint, lemon or ginger as per your own choice.
Brewing in the Sun Recipe
White Mulberry Tea can also be prepared in a glass jar, left in the sun. Add some water and mulberry leaves into a glass jar. Cover the jar and place it in the sun for about 1 to 2 hours. Drink this mixture hot or cold and enjoy your day.
Tea can only be enjoyed when it is as per your taste. It is suggested that you experiment different recipes till you finally get the right cup of tea as per your preference. In fact, the tea leaves, the time of the day, your mood, the brewing time, and even the cup you use affect the tea consumption experience.
